MEMBER of the BRITISH EMPIRE

The Member of the British Empire (MBE) is awarded for services to the war effort by civilians at home and servicemen in support positions; mainly to reward non-combatant services to the war and was to include women. Could be awarded for gallantry as well as service. It may be awarded posthumously. The following list of 'Indian' MBE awardees is incomplete and additional citations will be featured as and when they are found.
