Lieutenant General Sagat Singh, GOC 4 Corps, addressing Indian troops at the surrender ceremony. Lieutenant General Singh's penchant for rapid maneuvers was the driving force behind the 57 Mountain Division's jump across the Meghna river. Though the 4th Corps lost the 'Dash to Dhaka' to the 101st Communication Zone, Lieutenant General Singh's leadership played a major part of ensuring the victory of the 1971 conflict.
