During World War II, German troops coined the sobriquet Stalin's Organs (in German - Stalinorgel) for Russia's Katyusha rocket launchers (the light BM-8, the BM-13 and the heavy BM-31), after Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin and also alluding to the menacing sound of the Katyusha rockets. Today, the nickname is also applied to newer truck-mounted Russian multiple rocket launchers - notably the very common BM-21 - and their derivatives worldwide. Seen here, is the BM-21 firing a salvo of its rockets during Exercise Divya Astra.
